Bonnie started studying music at age four and wrote her first songs when she was 10 years old. She went to acting school and got a Master's degree in creative writing before finally setting her sights on a music career after moving to Berlin, Germany in 1992. After touring Germany, England and the US, Bonnie began a spiritual journey that had two major consequences: she met her husband on a meditation weekend, where they both fell in love at first sight in a roomful of about 350 people; and her songwriting changed from considerations of unrequited love and longing to messages of universal meaning. In 2003 she went to Los Angeles to record an album with world-class musicians, including Jim Cox (Ringo Starr, Mark Knopfler), Greg Liesz (Joni Mitchell, Sheryl Crow) and Dan Higgins (Vonda Shepard), among others. But in the midst of the sessions, a long-hoped-for dream came true: Bonnie found out she was pregnant. After a few years' break to bring up her daughter, Bonnie completed the LA album - now titled "Spiral" - in Munich. |
