Homeless Balloon is the music project of the Norwegian composer and multimedia artist Helge Krabye. He has composed original music for more than sixty television documentaries, fantasy stories and art projects. His passion is to combine acoustic instruments with experiemental, electronic sounds (mostly created with MetaSynth on his Mac). He is recording and mixing with ProToolsHD2. He plays and records with friends from time to time, but most of the time he is sitting in his home studio with ProTools, Korg Z-1, MetaSynth, SampleCell, Virus Indigo, his Stratocaster, three acoustic guitars, violin, mandolin and piles of sample CD's. His music is a mixture of everything, hard to label and difficult to predict. Acoustic and electronic, experimental world fusion grooves would be a suitable label, if you need that ;)

Helge Krabye discovered music when his parents played jazz records in the late 50's. He fell in love with acoustic instruments in the school orchestra and because of his violin teacher Peter Hindar (bless his memory). He bought his first four track taperecorder (Tandberg 4000X) in 1969 and started mixing sounds and instruments on tape. It was at that point that he discovered Stockhausen, Webern, Schoenberg and all the wonderful sound expressionists. He also rediscovered jazz and improvisation. At age thirtyeight he purchased his first Mac and later the first audio recording system from Digidesign: SounTools (which later became ProTools). He was allowed to compose music for a radio play, and this started many years (still going on) of composing original music for radio, television and art projects. He has now made music for more than fifty television documentaries, and he has been successful on MP3.com with his world fusion, acoustic and electronic pieces.
