This piece features Nioshi on drums, whom I admire so much. He did this tune on the first take! This piece is about layering, which you'l notice was very much on my mind on several of the pieces on this page. I think I really was influenced by King Crimson on the Larks Tounges and Dicipline records and became fascinated by layering discreet parts to make an odd syncopated sound. The fabulous Talking Heads record REMAIN IN LIGHT was really influential for me as well. I was playing a strat with lace sensors through a solid state fender princeton chorus. I was glad to catch this one from the board as it's about as well as I ever played this tune in a live setting. I dont often record them, but I did this one as an experiment in y friends studio. A Real studio, which is a luxury! It was fun, one of my first attempts a drum programming in the Pro Tools sequencer. It's amazing what we as musicians can do these days at home with a fairly modest desktop studio...but man it's fun to record in a real studio with high end mics and Mic PREs and the Genelec Surround in the mixing booth!
