Post General Discussion: Post Pictures Of Your Studio!
After 3 months of hard work, lots of measurements and general fiddling around
I've finally (more or less, there's still work to do) finished my new mixing/mastering
room:

Now I'll have time again for some music :headphones:

Boogaboo wrote:

That very word brings my blood to a boil, cause what on Gods creation gives you the right to call yourself an Artist.

Maybe the simple fact that I create art? (whatever 'art' is. That's another discussion).

Quote:

The very act of calling yourself that creates a separation between you and any and all other living beings.

I fully disagree. Why should someone be separated just because he or she is an
artist?
There ARE artists who for whatever psychological deficits feel the urge to do this,
but I think you're over-generalizing here.
It's also possible that YOU feel separated for whatever reason.
It needs 2 sides to separate, not just one.

Wowie! :D

Now Clint has a FULL tour calendar! LOL

I think it's way cool that his bandmembers of 'Dark New Day' let him do that while they are taking the brunt (probably canceled own gigs).

That's some sort of news and you can be very proud of your son!

Absolutely. Congrats and 2 thumbs up for your son

I think a collaboration forum would be a good idea to get things going a little
faster.
And maybe a bit more involvement by the forum people :D

The technical forums seem not to attract that much people, so maybe we should
concentrate more on the art part of music.

I like it

The vocals have a nice Kate Bush touch, and your playing and production isn't
shabby, either

Did I already mention that I like your voice a lot?

Minimalistic, a bit raw, quite emotional. A beautiful song

What are your feelings on this? At what point do you decide to sink money into a release in order to gain distribution beyond what you could on your own??

hmmm..

I few general thoughts:

  • Do you do lots of live gigs? If yes you can always sell CDs at the gig, so you'll get (most probably) parts of your investment back.
  • Is there a market for your music? Online places like this (or myspace or whatever) are a good indication if (for a given amount of self promotion) people realy like your music.
  • Have you tried to sell your music online? Via music download and/or mail order from your homepage? How much downloads/buys do you get each month. How much does it increase when you post a link to your music in a forum?
  • How often do you get emails asking 'Where can I buy your music?
  • Are you wealthy enough to invest the money without worrying how to pay the bills next month?
  • Do you have the time (some serious time) to promote your music or someone who is willing to do this for you?
  • Don't think about making money. You're lucky if your investments pay back some day. Everything else is a plus, but don't count on it.

Try to answer these questions and decide how much time and money it is
worth for you to have more distribution.

Wow, I like this, there's massive goosebump alert in the chorus

Great song and arrangement, great vocals (especially the harmonies)
and a sucking producer.

Just kidding Mike :D
