NEW HAVEN, Conn.—A new Yale University research survey reveals that while Americans are deeply divided on many issues, they overwhelmingly believe that the United States is too dependent on imported oil. The survey of 1,000 adults nationwide shows a vast majority of the public also wants to see government action to develop new “clean” energy sources, including solar and wind power as well as hydrogen cars.
The results underscore Americans’ deep concerns about the country’s current energy policies, particularly the nation’s dependence on imported oil. Fully 92 percent say this dependence is a serious problem, while 68 percent say it is a “very serious” problem.
Across all regions of the country and every demographic group, there is broad support for a new emphasis on finding alternative energy sources. Building more solar power facilities is considered a “good idea” by 90 percent of the public; 87 percent support expanded wind farms; and 86 percent want increased funding for renewable energy research.

It's just our boneheaded president who does. |

The yellow line shows the ice concentration in 1979, so a lot is gone already.
The interesting part of the story is, that the carbon amount which lies below this ice and will be set free when the ice is gone, is 125 times higher than expected: almost 11 billion tons. As a comparision take England, it economizes 12.7 million tons a year with climate protection.

I talked with a guy today that complained "If there really is global warming, why do we have a foot of snow on the ground today"
There is no explaining to some people but your illustration is very clear.
Thanks, Tom. |

That's a big problem, you can't even prove that WE are the reason for the
global warming because something like this has happened all the time.
Life would be much easier if we had such a proof... |

Erst wenn der letzte Baum gerodet,
der letzte Fluß vergiftet,
der letzte Fisch gefangen,
werdet ihr feststellen,
daß man Geld nicht essen kann.
