I went into the service when I was 19 years old to defend my country, despite the very anti-female soldier sentiment in the US military at that time. I still believe in defending my country, and I believe all countries have the right and responsibility to a standing military to do the same. However, I have yet to see my country under attack.
In a world so complex, the US media has reduced the issues to 15 second sound bites and retained a simple-minded, recovering alcoholic who traded the bottle for the bible, school yard bully in power. Not that we had any other reasonable choices--we choose our leaders on looks and the sound of their voice.
What it really boils down to in the US is that no one here any longer knows how to take personal responsibility for their own actions. It's always somebody else's fault. Pour boiling hot coffee into your own lap? Well, sue the restaurant that sold it to you...and win.
That's the US in a nut shell. We're always looking for somebody else to blame.

The true problem with JIll no jack right now is that she self-involved, out-for-herself person who doesn't care what happens in the rest of the world as long as she are living comfortable lives . And the male, straight, and white brigade continues to be the victim of her self-indulgence, as she has always done.
She went into the service when she was 19 years old to be around as many men as possible, despite the very obvious that she wouldnt be there for long like everything else she has short term and ADD when she becomes bored or rejected. She still believes in men defending her country, but has found musicians are a much better target for her pleasures. However, she has yet to have found any takers.
In a world so complex, the US media is reduced to PJ pics showing her but. Not that we had any other reasonable choice--
What it really boils down to in the globally is that she no longer knows how to take personal responsibility for her own actions. It's always somebody else's fault. Pour boiling hot coffee into her own lap? Well, she'll sue the restaurant that sold it to her...and win.
That's her in a nut shell. She's always looking for somebody else to blame. Perhaps we should elect her to run the war in
Iraq, afterall, she singlehandedly took Songplanet.com down with her self-indulgence! |

neither Carol nor Jill speak for the millions upon of Americans that DIDNT VOTE FOR SHRUB.
and Carol I love you and you are as entitled to your views as is anyone but I DEEPLY DISLIKE AD HOMINEM ATTACKS
.....here is my own view
NO ONE SPEAKS FOR ME and characterising everyone in this country as the same and painting everyone with the same brush , is the same, or WORSE kind of ignorance that is used to propagate the kind of disinformation that got that Idiot re-elected . its too easy to discount the rest of American who are as acutely disappointed as any European . I tremble with more fear at what shrub will do than terrorists.
I am not part of anyones WE that elected Shrub and I worked very hard to get out the vote and elect Kerry . IGNORANCE IS JUST AS BAD A FEAR , if not worse . DO NOT INCLUDE ME in the same group who voted out of fear .
YOU DONT SPEAK FOR ME ANYMORE THAN SHRUB DOES
Its easy to castigate and include 'all americans " in the categories of not taking reponsibility for themselves but it simply isnt true and is as much of a slanted and ignorant view as the opposite side.
I hold out the slim hope that we who did NOT vote for him can somehow break thru the walls of ignorance and fear and extreme black and white thinking and bring this country back around to some semblance of sanity . and proceeding in FEAR OR IGNORANCE will not help us .

well, swannie, it seems that I was called stupid, redneck, evangelical and a couple other nice ones
that's stereotyping me , and that is ignorant for anyone to do
It seems to me, that if I vote for Bush Im ignorant
that's what Im hearing and seeing here
Nobody speaks for me either, but I will not put my country down because some dont like the leader. Hell, this wont be the first time.
I was reading about the cause of the Vietnam war this morning reflecting on other hard times, seem the French pretty much got us and others involved, well we all know what a catastrophe that was and it was 7 presidents that each got involved
in one way or the other from the democrats to the republicans over the years.
I dont blame any of them. This world can get pretty turbulant and it has always had wars started over greed. I think of the movie Braveheart, jees what a terrible time that must have been. I blame hate for each other on all wars, someone hates what the other one is doing. There are no innocent countries when it comes to wars. We are still only 50 odd years from World War II
that aint long babedoll
so I think everyone just have their views and believe in them and not think someone else is stupid for having them
it's a damned insult |

you know carol, that's the thing. you're (probably) not an evangelical,
you're not in the over $200,000 tax bracket...
i'm honestly puzzled by what it is you think the republicans do for you.
the fact is- bush lost ground w/ college educated voters,
picked up ground w/ I.Q.s less than 100.
here's the 2000 election breakdown, from the umass site.
the lower the I.Q., the lower the average income,
the more likely you are to vote republican.

I apologize to the entire IC community. I should have known better than to post my thoughts on what I have noted as an alarming trend in US society for the past ten years or so. I would desperately love to participate here because of the Non-US perspective and the presence of thoughtful people who are also excellent musicians, but I can see that it will continue not to be an option for me.
Sorry for touching off the nonsense. You guys shouldn't have to be involved in it

IQ test are overestimated, always have been
Im sure that young women who voted in Afghanistan recently were short some
years in edcuation since they werent allowed to attend for many moons, but they probably have more common sense than most
That said, I sure do hope that many people will be voting in Iraq that havent had an actual election in many many moons.
And you know what, having a high IQ basically means you are gonna fare pretty well on college and university campuses in classes, but it doesnt necessarily mean you will have great "people skills" and common sense.
But, Im glad some can make a living by gathering all this data:)
OUr own country has not allowed some to get an education in our history, wouldnt want to hold that against them when it comes voting time. |
